My American grandfather was a pilot in what we know as The Vietnam War. This Vietnamese man was a pilot in what they refer to as The American War.

I met him in a rural village not far from Ninh Binh, south of Hanoi, capital city of Vietnam.

The encounter was heart filled. And strangely eerie - meeting him was like meeting my grandfather. His other, untold half...

I'm Vietnamese and my grandfather was a soldier in this war, too. How sadly, he never came back...
If you take a careful look into our history, you can understand why this old gentle man could take part in such a cruel war.
I can understand why you felt "eerie" :D
